Mark Isle
Overview
Local-first Chrome bookmark manager and new tab dashboard with cloud-folder sync and AI classification.
Product Description Mark Isle is a local-first bookmark manager and new tab navigation extension. It turns your Chrome new tab page into a customizable navigation dashboard, helping you organize frequently used websites, work links, learning resources, and temporary saves by pages, sections, and bookmark cards. Core Features: New Tab Navigation Dashboard: Create multiple navigation pages and sections, manage bookmark cards, add notes and icons, search quickly, drag to reorder, and move bookmarks across sections. Quick Save: Save the current page from the toolbar popup, context menu, or keyboard shortcut. Chrome Bookmark Import: Import existing Chrome bookmarks, clean up duplicate or invalid links, and organize them into a new Mark Isle navigation page. Local-First Storage: Bookmarks, categories, and layout data are stored in the browser’s IndexedDB. No account is required, and the extension works offline. Cloud Drive Folder Sync: Users can choose a local cloud drive folder such as iCloud Drive, Dropbox, OneDrive, or Nutstore. Mark Isle writes device snapshots to that folder, while the user’s own cloud drive client handles cross-device synchronization. Optional AI Classification: Users can configure an OpenAI-compatible endpoint and API key to receive category suggestions for new bookmarks or imported bookmark collections. If AI is not configured, unavailable, or fails, Mark Isle automatically falls back to local domain and keyword-based classification rules. Backup and Restore: Export bookmarks and layout data as JSON backups, and import backups with merge support. Privacy Design: No centralized backend. No account required by default. Data is primarily stored in the local browser. Data is written to a local folder only when the user actively selects a cloud drive sync folder. Bookmark titles, URLs, and category context are sent to an AI service only when the user enables AI classification and configures their own OpenAI-compatible endpoint. Who It’s For: Users who want to turn their new tab page into a personal navigation dashboard. Users who want to organize Chrome bookmarks without relying on a centralized account system. Users who prefer syncing bookmark data through their own cloud drive folder. Users who want optional AI assistance for organizing large bookmark collections. Recently updated: - Added English and Chinese interface support. - Set English as the default interface language. - Added language switching in the options page. - Localized the extension UI, import flow, and AI classification prompts. - Improved default sections and category names for both languages.
