Marginalia — Persistent Tab Labels
Overview
Rename Chrome tabs with persistent, local labels for a page, a site, or just the current tab.
Give important tabs names that make sense to you. Marginalia replaces a page’s tab title with a short label you choose, making crowded research sessions, dashboards, documents, tickets, and admin tools easier to recognize at a glance. Choose how long each label should last: - This visit — labels the current tab without requesting ongoing site access. - This page — restores your label whenever you return to that exact URL. - This site — uses one label across pages on the current site. Your labelled open tabs also gather in the popup, so you can jump directly back to the one you need. Designed to stay out of the way - Calm, index-card-inspired interface - Four marker colours for visual context - Original page title restored with one click - No account, analytics, ads, or subscriptions - No server and no remote code - Labels, URLs, and preferences stay in Chrome on your device - Marginalia requests access to a site only when you choose a persistent “This page” or “This site” label. “This visit” works with temporary access granted when you open the extension. - Chrome’s own pages, the Chrome Web Store, and some other protected pages cannot be changed by extensions.
