Margin - Substack Notes Blocker

A quieter Substack.

Margin makes Substack a quieter place to read. It has exactly two independent settings: HIDE STANDALONE NOTES Hide Notes in your Home feed that do not link to articles. Keep regular articles and Notes that share articles, including recognized article previews and restacked articles. When a link or card cannot be classified reliably, Margin leaves it visible. HIDE NOTES SHORTCUTS Remove dedicated Notes navigation shortcuts and the Note item in a shared Create menu when present. Keep Home, Search, Subscriptions, the general Create control and article creation available. Both settings start enabled. Use either one or both. Changes apply to open Substack tabs without a page refresh, and turning a setting off restores what Margin hid. LOCAL PROCESSING, NOT TRACKING Margin processes rendered Substack page structure, content links, preview indicators and navigation labels locally on your device. It reads the current Substack page URL to recognize Home and navigation. Links can incidentally contain usernames or other identifiers already present on the page. Only the two settings are saved in Chrome's local extension storage. Margin does not transmit page content, browsing activity or preferences to its developer or third parties. No analytics, advertising, account, backend or remote code. SMALL BY DESIGN Two switches. No timers, streaks, dashboards, reading statistics or master switch. The popup uses local system fonts and a quiet, editorial design. SCOPE AND LIMITATIONS Chrome site access is limited to substack.com and www.substack.com. Margin does not request access to unrelated sites or publication/custom domains. It does not block the Notes URL, alter your account or delete your content.
