Translate text in any image displayed in Chrome. Manga Translator detects text inside images, translates it into one of 18 target languages, and can place the translated text back where it belongs. It is designed for manga, comics and webtoons, but also works with restaurant menus, product labels, posters, signs, presentation slides, documents, screenshots and social media images. CONCRETE USE CASES - Translate a Japanese manga page into English or French. - Read an English webtoon in Spanish. - Understand a restaurant menu while travelling. - Translate product labels, instructions and packaging. - Read posters, signs, slides and text embedded in screenshots. THREE WORKFLOWS Translate the page handles the image currently visible in one click. Whole chapter translates large manga and webtoon reader images while you scroll manually at your own pace. Manga Translator does not force the page to move. Visible screen lets you draw a precise area around a menu, label, poster, sign, screenshot or difficult text. FREE MODE The extension works immediately with its built-in OCR engine. MyMemory translates the detected text, so no API key or account is required. An optional Windows Precision Engine powered by RapidOCR can be installed separately for faster and more accurate local text detection and positioning. It is not required to use the Chrome Web Store version. AI MODE AI mode uses the same local detection, cleanup and placement pipeline, then sends only the detected text to a provider selected by the user for contextual translation. The source image is not sent to the AI provider. Manga Translator includes integrations for Gemini, Mistral, OpenAI, Anthropic, and other providers. Users provide and control their own keys. REVIEW AND RENDERING - Place translated text back inside detected speech bubbles or image areas. - Review the source text and translation in copyable cards. - Download a translated image. - Refine small or uncertain text with a focused OCR pass. - Stop a chapter translation at any time. The interface is available in 13 languages and supports 18 target languages. PRIVACY Image recognition and geometry run locally. In Free mode, only detected text is sent to MyMemory. In AI mode, only detected text is sent to providers explicitly enabled by the user. Settings and API keys remain in Chrome local extension storage. The extension author does not collect or sell user data. OCR and machine translation can make mistakes. Names, prices, measurements, dates and safety information should always be reviewed.
