MAL Quick Update

Detect the anime title on any page and update your MyAnimeList episode progress in two clicks.

Stop leaving your episode to go update your list. MAL Quick Update reads the anime title from whatever page you're on, matches it against MyAnimeList, and shows your current progress right in the toolbar popup. One click on "+1 episode" and you're done — no tab switching, no searching, no scrolling your list to find the entry. WHAT IT DOES • Works on any site — streaming services, fansub pages, forums, wherever you watch. • Detects the title automatically from the page's Open Graph data, its heading, or the tab title, then cleans off the noise ("Watch…", "Episode 12", "(Dub)", "1080p", "Online Free", site names, and similar). • Matches against MyAnimeList using the English, Japanese, and synonym titles, so it finds the right entry even when the site uses a different name than MAL does. • +1 episode, or type an exact number and set it. • Marks an entry completed automatically when you hit the final episode. • Adds the anime to your list as "watching" if it isn't there yet. • Set the status directly — watching, completed, on hold, dropped, plan to watch. WHEN IT GUESSES WRONG Three ways to fix it, all of them permanent: • Edit the title box and press Enter to search again. • "Wrong anime? Pick another" — choose from the search results, and that choice is remembered for this title from then on. • "Teach title location" — the page dims into a picker; click the element that holds the title. The extension saves a CSS selector for that site and reads the title from exactly there on every later visit. "Forget this site" clears it. SETUP (one time, about three minutes) MyAnimeList's API requires each user to register their own application, so before the first use you'll: 1. Open the extension's settings page and copy the redirect URL shown there. 2. Go to myanimelist.net/apiconfig, click Create ID, set App Type to "other", and paste the redirect URL. 3. Paste the generated Client ID back into the settings page and save. 4. Click "Connect to MyAnimeList" and approve. Full instructions are on the settings page itself. PRIVACY The extension talks to MyAnimeList and nothing else. No analytics, no tracking, no third-party servers. Your access token is stored locally in your browser; your Client ID, taught selectors, and title corrections sync with your Chrome profile. Page content is only read when you click the toolbar icon — the extension has no standing access to the sites you visit.
