Make Works Extension

A tool for exploring methods of redistributed manufacturing

The Make Works extension is a plug in for your Chrome browser that shows you alternative ways to manufacture products on the IKEA website. When you are browsing a product; for example a chair, table, sofa or lighting on IKEA.com; the extension displays columns of related data that suggest alternative ways to manufacture, repair or replace that item. This might mean suggestions of similar open design products that can be manufactured nearby; lists of local maker spaces where you can make that object yourself; or factories in your area that could make it for you instead.
