Overview

Phishing checks inside Gmail. Open a message, click the icon, and get a verdict with its reasoning.

Check the Gmail message you have open for phishing. One click. No exporting, no uploading, no account. HOW IT WORKS 1. Open the message you are unsure about 2. Click the MailArgus icon in your toolbar 3. Read the verdict, and the reasons behind it You get one of three answers, safe, suspicious or phishing, with a confidence score and the specific things that looked wrong. WHAT IT CHECKS • Sender authentication: SPF, DKIM and DMARC • How long the sending domain has existed • Lookalike and homoglyph tricks in the address • Where the links actually lead, opened somewhere safe and watched • urlscan.io, VirusTotal and Google Safe Browsing • A language model reading all of it together WHAT IT READS One message, and only after you ask. The extension declares no standing permission for Gmail, so between clicks it has no access to your mail at all. That is a constraint Chrome enforces rather than a promise we are making, and it is why installing this does not warn you about reading your email. It never lists your inbox. WHAT IS KEPT The message is held in memory, sent over TLS, analysed, and released. It is never written to disk and never stored. What stays on your machine is your depth setting and the finished verdict, and the verdict is cleared when you close your browser. No account. No sign-up. No email address. THREE DEPTHS • Light, a fast answer from headers and reputation • Standard, which also opens the main link somewhere safe and watches what it does • Ultra, which opens two links, examines the landing page, and shows you its reasoning You choose the default, and you can escalate any single scan without changing it. The extension shares one daily allowance with mailargus.tech, so it is the same quota whichever you use.
