Overview
Shows where a webmail link really goes before it opens, and blocks destinations on your local blocklist.
Mail Link Guard shows where a webmail link really goes when you click it, and opens nothing until you press Open. WHAT IT DOES - Shows the link text, the destination domain and the full URL - Flags link text naming a different domain, unencrypted HTTP, IP addresses, Punycode, URL shorteners, text before "@" in a URL, and sites where anyone can publish pages (such as sites.google.com) - Shows lookalike domains in their real characters (xn--mazon-c9d.co.jp as αmazon.co.jp) - Removes Google redirects and Safe Links wrappers to show the real destination - Blocks destinations on your blocklist - Adds a domain or URL to the blocklist from the dialog - Accepts wildcards (*.example.*) and regular expressions in the settings, with JSON import and export - Starts with six rules that block lookalike domains, text before "@" in a URL, IP addresses, and .zip/.mov domains (removable) - Opens allowlisted sites without the dialog (edited only in the settings; suspicious links and sites where anyone can publish pages are excluded) - Lets organizations enforce rules through Chrome policy (Google Admin console, Group Policy, configuration profiles) PRIVACY - Stores only the on/off setting, the blocklist and the allowlist, on your device (not synced) - No network requests, servers, analytics or accounts - Open source under the MIT License: https://github.com/tysmmsy/mail-link-guard LIMITATIONS - Does not judge whether a link is safe - Shows only the first destination; later redirects are not followed - Does not check "Open link in new tab" from the right-click menu - Works only on mail.google.com Available in English, Japanese, Chinese (Simplified and Traditional), Korean, Spanish, Portuguese (Brazil), French, German, Italian and Russian. The interface follows the browser language.
