Macro Rate Watch is a lightweight utility that displays real-time financial and economic data in the Chrome Side Panel. This extension fetches data directly from the Federal Reserve Bank of St. Louis (FRED) API, providing users with a quick way to monitor key market indicators without navigating away from their current page. It is designed for users who need consistent access to macro economic trends, including home buyers, investors, and researchers. Key Functionalities: Market Monitoring: Provides current data for: 30-Year Fixed Mortgage Rate 10-Year & 2-Year US Treasury Yields CBOE Volatility Index (VIX) Consumer Price Index (CPI) & Inflation Crude Oil Prices (WTI) Unemployment Rate & Federal Funds Rate Interactive History: Includes sparkline charts to visualize data trends over various time ranges, from the last 7 days up to 30 years. Customizable View: Users can add, remove, and reorder metrics to create a personalized dashboard. Visual Status: Simple color-coded indicators (Green/Red) show daily changes relative to the previous trading day. Technical & Privacy Details: Source: Data is retrieved directly from the official FRED public database. Client-Side Only: The extension operates entirely within your browser. There is no backend server, and no user data is collected, stored, or transmitted. Zero Dependencies: Built with vanilla JavaScript to ensure minimal resource usage.
