Lumipdf opens, edits, merges, splits, signs, compresses and captures PDFs without uploading them anywhere. There is no account, no server, and no "free tier". Turn off your Wi-Fi and everything still works. That is the test, and it passes. WHAT IT DOES • Organise: merge several PDFs into one, split by page range, pull pages out into a new file, delete pages you don't need, and reorder or rotate pages visually. • Edit: highlight, draw, add text boxes, notes and images, and place a signature you drew once and kept. Your marks are saved as you work. • Sign and fill: draw a signature or initials, then drop them onto any form. They stay on this device. • Compress: shrink a PDF to email size with presets that say what they will cost: about 150 dpi for email, 215 for balanced, 300 for print. • Capture from the web: snapshot a whole scrolling page, grab a region or a single element, capture a screen or window, or photograph paper with your webcam. Collect several as you browse and make one PDF at the end. • Convert: images to PDF, PDF to images, text or Markdown. • Find: search across your library by file name and by the text inside your PDFs. IN A TAB OR IN THE SIDE PANEL Lumipdf runs as a full page in a tab and, unchanged, in Chrome's side panel docked beside whatever you are reading. The side panel adds one view a tab cannot have: what can be done with the page next door. Open the PDF you are looking at, annotate it, sign it, compress it, or snapshot the page. WHY ON-DEVICE MATTERS Contracts, invoices, medical letters, passports. The usual way to merge two of those is to upload them to a website you have never heard of. Lumipdf does the work in the browser tab, with the same PDF engine either way. Your files are opened from your own folders, and Lumipdf writes back to the file you opened rather than filling your Downloads folder with copies. HONEST ABOUT WHAT IS NOT BUILT Some cards are marked "In development". They are not buttons, and each one says on its face why it is not ready, so you are never sent to a dead end. OCR, password protection, redaction, PDF/A and the Office conversions are the ones still coming, along with the three AI tools. PERMISSIONS Lumipdf asks for as little as it can, and asks late. It requests no host access on install. Permission to read a page is requested at the moment you capture one, for that page, and Lumipdf keeps working if you say no.
