Overview

A smooth, cursor-anchored zoom viewer for images — in-page and standalone.

Lumen replaces the browser's clumsy image viewing with a viewer that feels like it belongs in the page. Click a picture and it opens full-screen over a softly blurred backdrop. Scroll to zoom — the point under your cursor stays exactly where it is, so you can push into a detail without losing it. Drag to pan at any zoom. Press Esc, or click the backdrop, and you're back where you were. HOW TO USE IT • Click an image — opens the viewer, for images the site hasn't made clickable • Alt + click any image — always opens the viewer; the site never sees the click • Scroll wheel — zoom, anchored to the pointer • Drag — pan, at any zoom • Double-click — toggle between fit and 100% • Left / Right arrows — step through the other pictures on the page • Esc, or click the backdrop — close • + / − , 0 , 1 — zoom in, zoom out, fit, 100% DETAILS THAT MATTER Opens the real image, not the thumbnail. The page's small preview appears instantly, then the largest original the page offers swaps in behind it — so you get the full-resolution picture without waiting on a blank screen. Respects the site. Images inside links keep their link: a plain click navigates the way the site intends, and Alt + click is the escape hatch that always opens the viewer. Images under 128px are ignored, because they're almost always icons. One entry per picture. Pages often render the same image twice for responsive layouts. Lumen collapses the duplicates, so stepping through a gallery never lands you back on the picture you're already looking at. Works on bare image URLs too. Open an image link directly and Lumen takes over Chrome's plain image document, with the same zoom and the same controls. PRIVACY Lumen collects nothing. It makes no network requests, has no analytics, no account, no background page, and no access to your browsing history. It is one content script and nothing else— around 700 lines of dependency-free JavaScript that runs entirely on your machine.
