Overview
EasyRead: Read Later, automatic history, Notes, and Markdown export.
EasyRead 2.0.0 — Save what matters. Return with context. EasyRead is a local-first reading companion for Google Chrome. Organize pages to read later, keep notes alongside the original text, and save useful web content for personal reference. Read Later • Save the current page and manage unread and completed items. • Keep reading positions so you can return to where you left off on supported pages. • Review browsing history, visit counts and reading time. Automatic recording can be turned off. • Browse history in pages of 500 records and export records. Notes • Highlight selected text instantly, add a comment to a quotation, or write a note about the whole page. • View and edit the same page notes in the popup or the webpage sidebar. • Notes linked to text follow their positions in the article where those positions can be resolved. Whole-page notes appear last. • Jump back to a note's original passage, edit or remove notes, and configure the note author. • Export notes as Markdown, with original passages formatted as quotations and your comments kept separate. • Turn visual highlighting on or off without deleting notes. Restoration depends on the original text still being available. Save Page • Save a single-file HTML snapshot, export Markdown, or use the browser print workflow to save a PDF. • Save or copy a screenshot of the visible window or the full page. Choose PNG or JPG for saved screenshots in settings. • Copy Markdown to the clipboard. • Follow progress and error feedback during capture. Dynamic pages, restricted resources and embedded content can limit the completeness or appearance of a saved copy. Media • Browse detected videos, audio and images using category filters. • Preview supported media and inspect available resolution, duration, file-size and source information. • Download supported media with progress, downloaded amount, speed and remaining-time information when available. • Configure autoplay and mute preferences; mute is enabled by default. • Video playback progress can be recorded for reference, but EasyRead does not automatically seek or resume page videos. • Media support depends on the website, format and access permissions. Not every detected item is downloadable. Use this feature only for content you own or are authorized to save; it does not grant access to restricted content. Backup & Restore • Keep reading history, read-later entries, notes and settings in local extension storage. • Export backups and restore using merge or replacement options. Existing records are supported when upgrading from earlier versions. • English and Simplified Chinese interfaces, with an automatic browser-language option. Privacy and control EasyRead does not require an account and does not operate an advertising, analytics or cloud-sync service. Page capture, media metadata, previews and downloads can make requests to the original website, player provider or CDN. Some operations require optional website permissions. Diagnostic Tool is off by default; enabled reports stay local and are shared only if you choose to export and send them.
