DiffScout for GitHub
Overview
Cmd/Ctrl+click a symbol in a GitHub pull request diff to jump to its definition, in any language.
Go to definition for GitHub pull requests. Reviewing a PR and wondering what a class or method does? Hold Cmd (Ctrl on Windows/Linux) and click it, like in your IDE. • If the definition is in the PR's diff, the page scrolls straight to it. Browser Back takes you back. • If it's elsewhere in the repo, the file opens in a new tab at the right line, at the PR's head commit. • If it can't be found (e.g. a library symbol), GitHub's symbol search opens for the repo. Holding Cmd/Ctrl underlines the symbol under your cursor, so you can see what is clickable. WORKS WITH ANY LANGUAGE No per-language setup. DiffScout recognises the common shapes of definitions (classes, interfaces, structs, functions, methods, constants) and follows imports, so it works across most popular programming languages. For calls like petValidator.validate(), it uses the receiver's type to pick the right file. It is a fast heuristic, not a full language server: overloads and dynamic dispatch can occasionally land on the wrong candidate. PRIVATE REPOS Public repos work out of the box. For private repos and higher rate limits, click Sign in with GitHub in the extension's options and approve DiffScout on GitHub. You can also paste a personal access token instead. PRIVACY No servers, no analytics, no tracking. DiffScout talks only to GitHub. Your GitHub sign-in stays in your browser and is sent only to api.github.com.
