Overview
Loop, retime and transpose any part of a YouTube video. A practice tool for guitarists.
LoopMeUp is a practice tool for guitarists. It runs on YouTube watch pages and turns one into a practice rig: mark the spots that matter, loop between any two of them, take the tempo down or up, and transpose without changing the speed. MARKS - Save a named timestamp at the current time. Call it what it is: verse, the fast bit. - Type a mark's time, or put the caret in the field and nudge it with the arrow keys — a tenth of a second a press. That is how a loop point gets set: by ear. - Play from a mark without touching the loop. LOOP - Pick any two saved marks as Start and End. It plays start to end, round and round. - The loop keeps running while the panel is closed. TEMPO - By percentage: 25% to 400%. The slider runs to 200%; the number field takes the rest. - Or by BPM: give the song's tempo, or tap it out, then ask for the tempo you want to play at. - Pitch is preserved, so speed is never a pitch control. PITCH - Transpose in semitones, -12 to +12, with the tempo untouched. - Fine-tune by the hertz against A=440. Type the reference the recording is actually at — 432, 415, whatever it turns out to be. There is no cap, and the offset is shown in cents. KEYS While the page has focus: [ marks the loop start, ] marks the end, \ starts and stops the loop. Keys typed into the panel's own fields stay in the panel. THE PANEL It opens from the toolbar button and stays open until you close it. Clicking the video, scrubbing and playing do not dismiss it. It follows the video into fullscreen. SAVED PER VIDEO Marks, loop, speed, transposition and tone are stored per video and come back when you return to it. They are stored in the browser's own extension storage on your machine. Nothing is collected and nothing is sent anywhere: no account, no analytics, no network requests, no remote code. TWO THINGS TO KNOW - Transposing routes the tab's audio through the browser's Web Audio API. If the extension is updated or reloaded while that is active, that tab can stay silent until you reload it. - At large transpositions dense chords warble slightly. That is the pitch-shifting technique, not a fault. LoopMeUp is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or connected to YouTube or Google.
