Overview

Practice video sections in an A/B loop with adjustable speed, tabs, solo transcription, a tuner and a metronome.

Loop Player helps you practice music with YouTube videos, one section at a time, without leaving the lesson page. Open a lesson, an online course or YouTube itself. Loop Player finds the videos on the page, including players embedded in iframes. Choose Practice, set the start (A) and end (B) of the section and repeat it as many times as you need. LOOP PRACTICE • A → B loop accurate to the hundredth of a second, with ±0.1 s fine-tuning • Up to 9 sections per video, switched with keys 1 to 9 • Speed from 10% to 200% and a pause of up to 30 s between repetitions • Repetition counter FLOATING CONTROLLER • Controls sit on the video page itself, so the extension panel can stay closed • Drag it, collapse it or pop it out into an always-on-top window (Picture-in-Picture), handy for recording with another app open • Stage mode, with big buttons to play, go back to A and switch sections • Space, A, B, L, R, 1–9 and arrow keys, plus configurable Chrome shortcuts WATCH THE TECHNIQUE • Frame by frame, backward and forward (comma and period keys) • Zoom from 1× to 4× per section, with a 3 × 3 grid and a joystick to frame the right hand • Mirror the picture so the hands appear on the same side as yours TOOLS • Chromatic tuner from your audio interface or microphone (A4 from 430 to 450 Hz; standard, Drop D, half step down and Drop C) • Note detection: play a note and see which one it is • Animated look (a needle with inertia and a glow when in tune), classic or strobe • Metronome from 30 to 300 BPM that follows the section's speed and counts in before A • Audio is processed on your computer and is never recorded or sent FRETBOARD • Scales, modes, pentatonics and arpeggios on the guitar neck, with note names or degrees, in any key • Pentatonic and three-notes-per-string shapes • Harmonic field in triads or seventh chords, with each chord's notes on the neck • Intervals from any note, including 9ths, 11ths and 13ths • Right- and left-handed views • Draw your own diagrams: mark notes with colors and lines, show note names or degrees, save them by name and share them with other users as a code, a file or a PNG image TABS • Write by clicking the neck or with the keyboard, with rhythm (whole to sixteenth notes, dotted, triplets, ties), time signature and tempo • Techniques: bend, hammer-on, pull-off, slide, vibrato and muted notes; chords and named sections • Play the tab back with a nylon, steel or electric guitar sound while the neck follows along • The sheet scrolls in a single line, with an overview, numbered bars and a large-print reading mode • Start from the examples (public-domain melodies and original blues, rock and metal licks) • Share as a code, a file, text or a PNG image; import plain-text tabs TRANSCRIBE • Figure out a solo from the video: the video's timeline with the six strings, on an A/B section or the whole video • Mark the time of each note with M while the video plays, or drag the line to the spot, and write the notes on the neck • Zoom, an overview and the video's controls (play, back, forward, speed) right in the mode • Send the result to a tab, with durations worked out from the tempo PRACTICE LIBRARY • Save videos together with the lesson page where you found them • Title and notes per video; search by title, note or page • Automatic backup to a folder on your computer, with copies of the last 7 days (a synced folder, such as iCloud Drive, takes it to the cloud too), and export to a file • 30-day trash and "Undo" after deleting, importing or restoring SHARING • Send sections and diagrams to other Loop Player users with a short code or a .loop file, with no link or server • Nothing is applied before you confirm; notes and source pages are never included LOOK AND LANGUAGE • Light, dark or automatic theme, with 5 accent colors • Interface in English, Portuguese and Spanish PRIVACY Everything stays in your browser. Loop Player has no server, needs no account, collects no data and shows no ads. GOOD TO KNOW • Loop Player does not download videos, does not block or skip ads and does not bypass YouTube restrictions. Private, removed or embed-disabled videos follow YouTube's rules. • Chrome's internal pages and the Chrome Web Store itself do not allow extensions. Loop Player is an independent project, not affiliated with YouTube or Google.
