Long Chat Booster for ChatGPT is designed for developers, programmers, AI-assisted coders, and power users who work in very long ChatGPT conversations. Coding chats can grow extremely large. A single conversation may contain hundreds of messages, long code blocks, logs, debugging output, images, and other interface elements. Over time, the browser can spend more CPU and memory keeping that page active, making typing, scrolling, switching tabs, and continuing development work feel slow. Long Chat Booster reduces unnecessary browser-side rendering work from older parts of the conversation, manages completed background ChatGPT tabs, and can recover a hidden ChatGPT tab whose renderer stays near one-core saturation. The goal is simple: keep a long-running development conversation usable instead of forcing you to start a new chat because the browser has become sluggish. Features • Long Coding Chat Optimization Reduces rendering work from older, off-screen parts of long ChatGPT conversations while keeping the newest part ready to use. • One-Click Boost Press “Boost now” whenever a long coding conversation starts feeling slow. • Auto Boost Leave Auto Boost enabled and the extension can optimize long conversations automatically as they become more demanding. • Turbo and Aggressive Defaults The default configuration is tuned for genuinely heavy ChatGPT workloads, especially long coding and debugging chats. • Runaway Background Reset If a hidden ChatGPT tab is actively generating and its renderer remains near one-core saturation for multiple checks, the extension can unload that background renderer, wait briefly, and reload the same ChatGPT tab. This avoids leaving an already-overloaded page artificially slowed for a long time. Automatic runaway reset never targets the tab you are actively using. It also excludes pinned or manually protected tabs, audible or voice-active tabs, tabs with unsent draft text, uploads, attachments, navigation in progress, and other unsafe states. Because this recovery can interrupt an in-progress background response, part of the currently streaming answer may be lost. The ChatGPT conversation itself is not deleted. • Emergency Reset If a ChatGPT tab becomes so busy that the extension cannot get a normal response from the page, the popup stops waiting and offers Emergency Reset. This browser-level recovery path does not depend on the overloaded page responding. It stops the overloaded renderer, waits briefly, and reloads the same chat. • Safe Background Sleeping Completed, inactive ChatGPT tabs can be safely discarded after repeated safety checks. A discarded tab remains in the browser tab strip and reloads when needed. • Restore Full Rendering Temporarily restore normal rendering whenever you need to access older parts of the conversation. • Code and Media Optimization Long conversations containing code blocks, logs, images, and other heavy content can benefit from reduced off-screen rendering work. • Chat Health Indicator See whether the current ChatGPT page is running Fast, Heavy, or Very Heavy. • Built-In ChatGPT Control A small floating booster control is available directly inside ChatGPT, so you are not dependent only on the browser extension popup. • Keyboard Shortcut Use Alt + Shift + B to trigger a boost quickly. • Local Settings Extension preferences, simple aggregate usage counters, and safety state are stored locally in browser extension storage. What Long Chat Booster does Long Chat Booster works on the browser interface of ChatGPT. It can reduce expensive off-screen rendering work, monitor local browser performance for supported background ChatGPT tabs, safely sleep completed tabs, and reset a runaway background renderer when the safety conditions are satisfied. This can help improve: • scrolling responsiveness • typing responsiveness • navigation in very long chats • switching between development tabs • browser responsiveness during large coding conversations • performance of pages containing many old messages, code blocks, logs, or media elements What it does not do Long Chat Booster does not make OpenAI's servers or AI models generate responses faster. If ChatGPT is waiting for a server response, experiencing an outage, or taking longer to generate a complex answer, this extension cannot accelerate that server-side processing. The extension focuses on browser-side performance only. It does not: • improve OpenAI server latency • change model intelligence • bypass ChatGPT limits • require an extension-developer account • require an API key • use the OpenAI API Your conversation is not deleted Boosting does not delete your ChatGPT conversation from your ChatGPT account. Normal Boost and Auto Boost only change browser-side rendering behavior. “Restore full rendering” returns the page to normal rendering. Safe background sleeping unloads a completed tab from browser memory while leaving the tab in the tab strip. Chrome reloads it when needed. Runaway Background Reset and Emergency Reset reload the same ChatGPT conversation URL. They may interrupt the response that is currently being generated, so an incomplete streaming answer may not always be preserved. They do not intentionally delete the ChatGPT conversation itself. Chromium performance monitoring The runaway-background protection uses Chromium's Debugger API to read local performance metrics for an eligible ChatGPT tab. Chromium may display a browser-level notice saying that Long Chat Booster for ChatGPT has started debugging the browser while this performance check is active. This is a Chromium security notice associated with the Debugger API. Long Chat Booster restricts debugger attachment to supported ChatGPT hosts only. It does not deliberately attach the debugger to unrelated websites. Version 0.2.0 uses the Debugger API to confirm exact-tab performance pressure. It does not leave the ChatGPT renderer artificially CPU-throttled. When sustained runaway background load is confirmed, the debugger is detached before the browser-level reset begins. Performance metrics are processed locally and are not sent to the developer. Privacy Long Chat Booster is designed to operate locally in your browser. ChatGPT conversation text is not sent to the developer, an analytics company, an advertising service, or an external server by this extension. The extension accesses the ChatGPT page only for its stated browser-performance and safety functions. For example, it may determine whether generation is active, whether the composer contains an unsent draft, whether an upload or voice session is active, and which older page elements can be optimized. The draft text itself is not sent to the developer. It does not: • sell conversation data • upload ChatGPT conversations • use conversations for advertising • build advertising profiles • collect browsing history across unrelated websites • require an account with the extension developer • use the OpenAI API Settings and simple aggregate local usage counters are stored using browser extension storage. Optional support Long Chat Booster is free to use. After substantial use, the extension may occasionally display an optional support reminder. Support is completely voluntary. Donation reminders can be dismissed, postponed, or permanently disabled. Donations are not required to use the extension. The PayPal support QR is packaged with the extension. If you choose to continue to PayPal, payment handling is provided by PayPal. Long Chat Booster does not receive your ChatGPT conversation contents, PayPal password, or payment-card credentials.
