Opening links to local files is prohibited in chrome, but this extension allows you to open them.

Using this extension, you'll be able to open local files directly inside Google Chrome? This is a simple extension which allows you to open files which are on your hard disk etc via Google Chrome. To begin using this software, simply install the extension. Click on the extension icon, go through the "sample.pdf" file to ensure the extension works correctly for you. This "open local files" extension, as far as I can tell, is useless. It doesn't add any new button or menu that allows me to browse and open a file. The text that it shows after installation doesn't provide any guidance on how to actually use the tool to open any file other than the example. This is basic functionality that every browser should support.
