job.fail — Job Applications for Rookies
Overview
Autofills job applications, writes your cover letters and tailors your CV to every job description. You still press Submit.
job.fail helps you apply for jobs. It autofills application forms, drafts cover letters and tailors your CV to each job description. AUTOFILL JOB APPLICATIONS Save your details once. Signed in, your name, address, contact details and links sync with your job.fail account; everything else stays in your browser. When you open an application form, job.fail offers to fill it in one click. It works on most career pages and applicant tracking systems. - Fills text fields, dropdowns, radio buttons and checkboxes, including searchable dropdowns, location pickers and yes/no buttons - Attaches your résumé file (PDF, DOC or DOCX) - Enters dates in the format each form expects - Never overwrites what you have already typed and never submits the form - Outlines every field it filled, so you can review them before you submit LEARN NEW FORM FIELDS Click into a field and job.fail suggests answers from your profile, best match first. Pick one and it remembers that field for next time. For a question it does not know yet, type your answer and click "Remember" to add it to your profile. Click "Update" to save a changed answer. COVER LETTERS Open a job posting, open the side panel and click Draft Cover Letter. job.fail drafts a short letter for that role in the language of the job posting, using only facts from your career history. You can edit, regenerate or copy it in the side panel. TAILOR YOUR CV TO A JOB Open a job posting, open the side panel and click Draft CV. job.fail lists the core skills the job asks for, and you choose which of your experiences shows each one. You can add experiences in the same view. Generate CV then drafts a CV in the language of the job posting, using only facts from your career history: - Each core skill shows in the experience you chose for it - A skills section lists up to eight skills that your own work backs - A reason you gave for a short stint or a gap appears as one line above that role - Your name and contact details head the CV Finish the CV in the free CV editor on job.fail: - 15 templates - Start from a demo, a blank template, your own Markdown file or a job link - Export a PDF, or save it as Markdown to keep editing later RECRUITABILITY SCORE Every experience you add gets a Recruitability score, rated against what recruiters commonly look for. Scores are High, Medium or Low. Below High, you can answer a few questions and job.fail proposes a stronger description. SETTINGS OVERVIEW The settings open on an Overview of what is left to set up: your autofill details, a free account, your job and education history, a saved job and your first CV. It also shows your saved jobs and your token balance. ACCOUNT AND TOKENS Autofill, core skills, matching your experiences and Recruitability scores are free and work without an account. An account is needed for anything job.fail writes for you: cover letters, CVs and improved descriptions. Sign in with Google or LinkedIn. New accounts get 100,000 job.fail tokens for free, and more tokens can be bought. Text generation runs on an EU-hosted model with zero data retention. PRIVACY - Signed in, your name, address, contact details and links sync with your job.fail account and are encrypted before they are stored. Your other autofill details and your résumé file are stored locally in your browser and are never synced to job.fail. Filling a form makes no network requests. - Gender, ethnicity, veteran and disability questions are only filled from answers you entered yourself. - Signed in, your job and education history are stored in your job.fail account, so the extension and the website share them. Experiences you add while signed out stay on your device until you sign in. - Apart from what syncs with your account, text leaves your device only for a task you start, such as core skills, a cover letter, a CV, a Recruitability score or a PDF export, and only the text that task needs. - Your account holds your sign-in details, your name, address, contact details and links, your career history, your tokens and purchases, and the jobs you save on job.fail. - You can export your details and history as a CSV file at any time, and import one to restore them.
