Your passwords stay on your PC. LocalGateKeys is an offline password manager for Windows. It keeps your vault on your own computer, encrypted with Argon2id and AES-256-GCM. There is no cloud account to create and no server holding your passwords. This extension connects your browser to the LocalGateKeys desktop app so you can fill and save logins on websites. Requires the LocalGateKeys app for Windows. Install it from https://localgatekeys.app/download first. The extension does nothing on its own. What it does • Shows the LocalGateKeys icon in login fields. Click it to pick the account to fill. • Handles multi-step sign-ins where the username and password are on separate pages. • Offers to save a new login after you sign in, and to update it when you change a password. • Fills two-factor codes (TOTP) stored in the app. • Fills saved addresses and payment cards into checkout forms. • Saves passkeys from websites in your vault and signs you in with them (Chrome and Edge). You approve every passkey in the desktop app, and the browser's own passkey dialog is always one click away. • Lets you turn off save prompts for any site from the toolbar popup. How it keeps your data private • The extension talks only to the LocalGateKeys app on the same PC, through the browser's native messaging. It never sends your logins, or the sites you visit, to us or to anyone else. • No analytics, no tracking, no ads, no remote code. • Logins are only offered on the exact site they were saved for. Iframes from other sites can't request them. • The desktop app must be unlocked before anything is filled.
