Browse, search, and read the Markdown (.md) and HTML files on your computer in a browser tab. FEATURES • Lists the .md and .html files in the folders you choose as a tree (node_modules, .git and similar folders are skipped) • Full-text search across file names and contents (separate words with spaces to find files containing all of them) • GitHub-style Markdown (tables, task lists, and more), Mermaid diagrams, and syntax highlighting • Table of contents, dark mode, keyboard shortcuts (press / to search) • Automatically re-renders a file when you save it • Search from the address bar: type "md", press Space, then type your words • HTML files are shown in an isolated page. Scripts inside them are blocked until you allow them for that folder PRIVACY • The extension requests no permissions • It reads only the folders you choose, read-only. It never modifies your files • The extension itself sends nothing anywhere and does not load images or scripts from the internet • Scripts inside HTML files run only in folders you allow. What they do depends on the file, so allow scripts only for folders you trust HOW TO USE 1. Click the toolbar icon to open the viewer 2. Click "Add folder" and choose the folder you want to read 3. Open a file from the tree on the left After restarting Chrome, you may need to click "Allow" to read your folders again. To also format .md files you open directly in Chrome (for example, by dragging them into a window), turn on "Allow access to file URLs" in the extension's details. This is not needed for the viewer.
