Overview

Transform OpenAPI JSON pages into visual documentation and a privacy-first endpoint tester.

The OpenAPI Swaggerizer is a lightweight utility for developers who want to explore API specifications without navigating raw JSON. It automatically detects supported OpenAPI and Swagger JSON documents displayed in the browser and transforms them into structured, interactive visual documentation. It works with specifications hosted on public sites, localhost, and private networks. The extension detects specifications from rendered page content, so the URL does not need to end in a particular file name. ✨ KEY FEATURES: Hierarchical Grouping: Organizes endpoints by tags, root paths, and sub-resources, turning a flat list of routes into a navigable structure. Automatic Specification Detection: Checks eligible HTTP and HTTPS pages for supported JSON specifications and renders the documentation locally in the browser. Endpoint Details: Explore HTTP methods, paths, operation IDs, summaries, descriptions, and declared responses. Expand an operation to see its available details. Endpoint Testing: Test operations described by OpenAPI 3.0 and 3.1 from a separate extension tab. Review the server, parameters, supported authentication options, and request body, then send the request and inspect its status, headers, and response body. Swagger 2.0 specifications are available for visual documentation only. Sticky Sidebar Navigation: Jump between tags using a sidebar with smooth scrolling and active-state highlighting. Lightweight: Built with vanilla JavaScript and no third-party runtime libraries. Specifications larger than 25 Mi characters are skipped. 🔒 PRIVACY AND DATA HANDLING: Specification detection and visual rendering happen locally in your browser. Automatic detection requires the content script to be available on HTTP and HTTPS pages across sites, including localhost and private networks; Chrome may therefore show a broad site-access warning. Interface settings are stored locally, and the language preference uses Chrome Sync. When you open the tester, the selected specification and operation are temporarily held in a one-time local session. Credentials stay in the tester tab's memory and are not saved. A test request is sent only after you choose Send request. Its URL, parameters, body, and any credentials you entered go directly to the API server you selected. The extension does not send specifications or test data to DXS servers or analytics. Browser cookies are not sent with test requests. 💡 ABOUT DXS: Created by developers for developers, this tool is part of the DXS suite, aimed at improving productivity through clearer API documentation and better UX. If the extension helps your workflow, you can support the project through the donation options in the extension popup. Disclaimer: This extension is an independent tool and is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or sponsored by SmartBear Software (Swagger) or the OpenAPI Initiative.
