Readwright turns your browser into a calm place to read. Open an EPUB and it looks like a book: warm paper, soft ink, and real pages you turn, instead of one endless scrolling web page. It is free, has no ads, and your books never leave your computer. OPEN A BOOK IN ONE STEP • Drop a file anywhere on the page, or click "Add a book" • Right-click a link to a book on any website and choose "Open in Readwright" • EPUB, MOBI, AZW3, FB2 and CBZ • Opens books by what is inside the file, not by how your computer labels it, so files that other readers reject as "unsupported" still open READS LIKE A BOOK • Real pages, one or two side by side, or continuous scrolling if you prefer • Light, sepia and dark paper, or follow your system • Choose the font, text size, line spacing and text width; your place is kept when you change them • Book title, chapter name and page number in the margins, like a printed page • Hide the toolbars or go full screen and leave only the page • Chinese, Japanese vertical text and right-to-left books are laid out correctly LISTEN • Read aloud with your browser's built-in voices; in Microsoft Edge these include natural-sounding voices in many languages • Start from any sentence: select some text and choose "Read from here" • The sentence being read is highlighted, pages turn by themselves, and the next chapter follows on • Previous and next sentence, pause, speed and voice controls A SHELF THAT REMEMBERS • Every book you open stays on your shelf with its cover • Reopen a book and you are back on the page where you stopped • See how far you are and about how long is left FIND AND KEEP • Search the whole book, not just the chapter on screen • Highlight passages and write notes beside them • Table of contents, including one built from the chapter headings when the book has none • Footnotes open in a small window instead of jumping away PRIVATE BY DESIGN • No account, no analytics, no ads, no tracking • Books, highlights, notes and settings are stored only in your browser on your computer • Scripts inside books never run, and books cannot load anything from the internet • Readwright only goes online when you ask it to open a book from a link, and it asks you first for that one website. Read aloud uses your browser's own voices; when you pick an online voice, your browser sends the sentence being read to the voice service to turn it into speech Readwright is free.
