Overview
A new tab page that shows live ISS position data! Powered by ThreeJS and Vite
Every time you open a new tab, see exactly where the International Space Station is right now. What's Above Me? replaces your new tab page with a slowly rotating 3D Earth and the ISS travelling along its glowing orbit, updated live. FEATURES • Live ISS tracking: hover over the station to see its latitude, longitude, altitude and speed, refreshed every 5 seconds. • "Over" readout: shows which country or ocean the ISS is passing over right now. • Day and night Earth: switches to the night-side map with city lights between 7pm and 5am. • Clean clock: large, easy-to-read time in the corner. • Shortcut tiles: add your favourite sites with one click, right-click a tile to remove it. Shortcuts are saved in your browser. PRIVACY No account, no tracking, no ads. The extension only requests the ISS's public position from api.wheretheiss.at. The country/ocean lookup runs entirely on your device, and your shortcuts never leave your browser. PERMISSIONS • Favicons: shows each shortcut's icon from Chrome's own favicon cache. • api.wheretheiss.at: fetches the ISS's live position.
