originAS

Shows the origin AS (Autonomous System), IP address and location of the server behind the current website.

originAS shows you where the website you are visiting is actually hosted. Click the originAS icon in the toolbar to see: • the origin AS (Autonomous System) number and network name, e.g. AS15169 GOOGLE • the organisation and country the AS is registered to • the IP address of the web server and its reverse DNS name • the server location (country and city) with a link to a map It works with IPv4 and IPv6, and also with sites opened by their IP address. HOW IT WORKS When you click the icon, originAS sends only the hostname of the current tab (for example www.example.com – not the full address, no page content, no cookies) to ip6.ch over an encrypted HTTPS connection. ip6.ch resolves the name and looks up the AS and location data. Nothing runs in the background and nothing is added to the pages you visit. GOOD TO KNOW The lookup is done from ip6.ch. For sites behind a CDN or with location-based DNS, the server shown can differ from the one your browser is connected to. originAS is made by the operator of ip6.ch, where you find more network tools: traceroute, looking glass, DNS, whois, GeoIP lookup and more.
