Overview
Open-source (MIT) fork of Chrome Regex Search. New find bar, improved regex, and whole-pattern matches.
New Chrome Regex Search is a find-in-page tool for Chrome. It adds a search bar on the tab you are viewing, so you can find text on a webpage with a regular expression or with the text as written. It is an open-source (MIT) alternative to Chrome’s find bar when you need regex search, case-sensitive search, or whole-word search. Open the bar from the extension icon. The suggested shortcut is Ctrl+Shift+F on Windows, ChromeOS, and Linux, and Command+Shift+F on macOS (set it in chrome://extensions/shortcuts). Type in the bar and matching text on the page is highlighted. The current match is marked separately from the others, and the bar shows the count, such as 1 of 3. The extension icon shows the same total. Features: - Find in page on the current tab, from a bar fixed on the page - Literal search by default, so characters such as . + ( ) * are searched as written - Regular expression search when you turn on the .* button - Case-sensitive search with the Aa button; case is ignored until you turn it on - Whole-word search with the ab button, so a match is not part of a longer word - A space in a literal search matches spaces, tabs, and line breaks - Text split across inline tags is searched as one phrase - Visible text in open shadow roots and in SVG is included - Text in input fields and text areas is included; the current match is selected in the field - Matches inside iframes on the page are counted and stepped through together - Hidden elements (hidden or display:none) are skipped - Next match with Enter or the down arrow; previous match with Shift+Enter or the up arrow - Close the bar with Esc; the highlights are removed - Copy every match to the clipboard - Search history of recent terms, stored on your device (30 entries by default) - Instant highlighting as you type, or search only when you press Enter - Highlight color, selected-match color, and text color are configurable - Maximum number of matches (500 by default) and history length are configurable - Settings stay in the browser with chrome.storage.local and are not sent to a server The extension does not replace Chrome’s Ctrl+F. It does not search other tabs, your bookmarks, or your browsing history. It only reads the page in the tab where you opened the bar. New Chrome Regex Search is open source under the MIT license. https://github.com/pericodes/chrome-regex-search-extension
