Overview

Translates the word you select, taking the whole line into account. Works in subtitles, on any page and in PDF.

Watch series and films in the original language and understand every line. Subtitle Notes translates what a word or phrase means in that exact line, the way a dubbing translator would, not the first meaning in a dictionary. "No one wants a record" is not about a sports record. Subtitle Notes reads the whole subtitle and answers: nobody wants a criminal record. For an idiom it also shows the literal image behind it, synonyms for that sense and a short note on why it means this here. IN VIDEO PLAYERS Hold Ctrl and drag across a subtitle in most video players on the web. The video can pause while you read. Let go of Ctrl and the player works exactly as before. ON ANY PAGE AND IN PDF Highlight text anywhere to see what it means in context. Hold Ctrl for a careful translation of the whole line, or Alt for a quick one. In Chrome's PDF viewer, save a word from the right-click menu. Prefer the mouse? Turn on a small button that appears next to every selection. ONE LIBRARY ON EVERY DEVICE Hold Ctrl+Alt while highlighting and the word goes straight to your library. Sign in with Google and the same library opens in the Android app and in the Windows app, which also reads VLC subtitles and text from other programs. Saved something by mistake? It can be undone. LEARN WHAT YOU SAVED Spaced repetition brings difficult words back sooner and familiar ones later. Also included: pronunciation, export to Anki, a list of sites where the extension stays off, and the interface and explanations in 14 languages. FREE AND PRO Ten careful translations a day are free, each one by the full language model. After that, words are still saved, with the meaning taken from the dictionary. Pro (3 € a month or 24 € a year) removes the limit. You can also use your own AI key instead. Nothing is sent for translation until you select text or ask for a translation yourself. https://subtitlenotes.com
