VinSage opens in Chrome's side panel next to the car listing you're looking at and pulls together the official public records for that model. Works on: AutoTrader.ca, CarGurus (.ca and .com) and Cars.com. On any other site, paste a VIN or the listing text. What you get, free: • VIN decode (year, make, model, trim) from NHTSA • Recalls for the model year from Transport Canada (Canada) or NHTSA (US), with a link to check open recalls for that exact VIN • Owner complaints from NHTSA, with the most-reported problem areas • NHTSA crash ratings • Fuel or energy use from fueleconomy.gov, in L/100 km or mpg • A 0–100 deal score with every point explained (an estimate based on safety, recalls, complaints, fuel cost, age and mileage; it does not score price) • A negotiation pack: opening, target and walk-away offers from simple published rules, questions to ask the seller, and fees to watch for Paid (coming soon): a 5-year cost-to-own breakdown, a printable report and a garage to compare saved cars.
