Real-time captions and translation on the video you are watching. Tab audio or mic, many languages.

Live Captions Overlay shows live captions on the movie or video tab you already have open. A small bar sits on the page: start/stop, spoken language, caption model, and translation. What it does • Listen to this tab (YouTube, movie sites, and similar) or the microphone • Show original speech, a translation, or both • Floating caption box, subtitle-style line, or hide the panel • Auto-detect spoken language, with a long list of From/To languages How captions are made • On-device models: Moonshine Tiny (fastest), Whisper Tiny, Whisper Base, Whisper Small • Optional cloud: Groq Whisper Large v3 if you add your own API key in Settings • Local speech stays on this computer. A Groq key is stored only on this device. How to use 1. Open the video in a normal site tab (not chrome:// or brave:// pages) 2. Click the Live Captions icon on that tab 3. Choose Tab audio, pick language and model, press Start 4. Play the video with sound on. First local-model run may download the model; later runs are quicker. Notes • Brave/Chrome must allow the extension to read site data for tab audio • Headphones are fine; the tab still needs unmuted playback • This is not a full desktop app and cannot caption all PC audio outside the browser
