Live Messenger for WhatsApp

WhatsApp in the classic Windows Live Messenger look. Unofficial; not affiliated with Microsoft, Meta or WhatsApp.

*knock knock* You have just received a nudge. Remember signing in after school, watching your friends come online one by one, picking the perfect personal message and sending that one wink too many? It is all back, and this time it runs on the WhatsApp account you already use every day. Live Messenger for WhatsApp shows your WhatsApp chats in the classic Windows Live Messenger window. Your friends do not need anything: they keep using WhatsApp on their phones, and you chat with them from a window that feels like 2009. WHAT YOU GET • The contact list you grew up with: who is available, who is offline, your favorites on top, groups, personal messages and display pictures. • Two looks to choose from: Windows Live Messenger 2009 and 8.5. Switch whenever you like. • Nudges that shake the window. Yes, really. • Winks: the original animations, kiss and dancing pig included. • The original emoticons. Type :) or (L) or (Y) the way your fingers still remember, and see the emoji your friends send as proper Messenger emoticons. • Handwriting: draw a message with the pen and send it. • Your own font and colour, per conversation. • Scenes and colour schemes: tint every window pink, green, orange or anything else. • Conversation backgrounds, display picture frames that glow green when someone is online, the sounds you remember. • Games beside the conversation: invite a friend to Minesweeper Flags, Tic Tac Toe, Checkers and more. • Alerts in the corner of the screen when someone signs in or writes to you (off until you turn them on). AND EVERYTHING WHATSAPP DOES TODAY • Voice and video calls • Photos, videos, files and voice clips, with the classic transfer bar • Replies, reactions, polls, locations and contact cards • Group conversations with their member list • Delivery and read ticks • Search across contacts and messages, and a message history window • A photo viewer with zoom, slide show and print GOOD TO KNOW • It works on top of WhatsApp Web, inside your own browser. You link it the way you link any computer to WhatsApp. • Your messages, contacts and phone number stay between your browser and WhatsApp. They are never sent to us. • Nudges, winks, fonts and game invitations travel as ordinary WhatsApp messages. A friend with the extension sees the real thing; a friend on a phone sees a short text note. • Want to keep the original WhatsApp Web at hand? Options > Connection lets WhatsApp run in a pinned tab instead of hidden. • Want to read without blue ticks? Options > Connection > "Mark messages as read only when I send a reply".
