Overview

Record your Google Meet and Zoom meetings, and your web pages with automatic scrolling, with Literec.

Literec records your Google Meet and Zoom meetings, and turns any web page into a video that scrolls by itself. The video then lands in your Literec library, ready to watch and share with a link. This extension works with a Literec account (https://literec.video). WHAT YOU CAN DO 1. Present a web page on video, hands off the mouse Just finished a website, a sales page or an online mockup? Open the page, click the Literec icon, choose the speed and let it run. The page scrolls steadily from top to bottom, and the recording stops by itself at the bottom. 2. Keep a record of your meetings On Google Meet and on Zoom in the browser, a Literec bubble appears during the meeting. One click starts the recording, with your microphone. You can also record your whole screen, which helps with the Zoom desktop app. 3. Find everything in one place Each recording lands in your Literec library, like a video made from the website. You get your usual tools there: link sharing, viewing statistics and viewer replies, depending on your plan. RECORDING A SCROLLING WEB PAGE: HOW IT WORKS Before you start - Sign in to Literec in a tab and keep it open. If your account uses two-factor authentication, the upload needs this tab: if it closes, recording goes on on your computer and the upload resumes when you reopen it. - Open the page you want to present. Step 1: click the Literec icon A small panel opens. If you cannot see the icon, click Chrome's extensions button, then pin Literec. Step 2: set up your video - Video name: change it if needed. - Speed: Slow, Normal or Fast. Use Slow for a page with a lot of text, and Fast for a general overview. - Pause at start and pause at end: how long the page stays still, so viewers can take it in. - Add my voice (microphone): tick this box to comment on the page as it scrolls. Chrome asks for permission the first time. The panel shows the estimated length of the video. If your plan limits the duration, it warns you when the video will stop before the bottom of the page. Step 3: click Start A countdown appears on the page, then scrolling begins. The countdown does not appear in the video. Step 4: let it scroll, or take over If you use the mouse wheel or the keyboard, the recording pauses instead of fighting you. What you do during the pause is not filmed. You can reposition the page, then click Resume. You can also pause by clicking the Literec icon, or with the Alt+Shift+R shortcut. Step 5: get your video At the bottom of the page, the recording stops and the video goes to Literec. To finish earlier, open the panel and click "Stop and upload". Once the upload ends, open your library: the video appears there once its processing is complete. RECORDING A MEETING: HOW IT WORKS 1. Sign in to Literec in a tab and keep it open. 2. Join your meeting on Google Meet or on Zoom in the browser. The Literec bubble appears. 3. Name the meeting, then click "Record this meeting". 4. If Chrome asks what to share, confirm. To capture the voices of other participants, tick the option to share tab or system audio. 5. During the meeting, the bubble shows the timer, with Pause and Stop buttons. 6. When you stop, the video goes to Literec and appears in your library. Using the Zoom desktop app? Choose the "Whole screen" option, as the extension cannot directly capture an application outside the browser. Important: you are responsible for what you record. Tell participants and get their consent, as the law requires in many countries. WHAT HAPPENS IN SPECIAL CASES - The page loads more content as it scrolls: the extension carries on to the new bottom of the page. - The page scrolls inside an inner area rather than the whole window: the extension looks for the main area and scrolls it. - The page never ends, like a news feed: the recording stops after 20 minutes. - The page fits entirely on screen: the extension tells you there is nothing to scroll. - The tab is closed or changes page during the recording: what was already filmed is uploaded. - The connection drops: recording goes on, what has not been sent yet stays on your computer and is sent automatically when the network is back. If the browser closes, the upload resumes when it next opens, as long as the server still has the start of the take: it keeps it for about 24 hours (otherwise the extension tells you the take cannot be completed). - Chrome forbids certain pages, such as its internal pages and the Chrome Web Store: the extension explains this and does not record them. LIMITS TO KNOW ABOUT - A Literec account with an active plan is required. Duration and video count limits are those of your plan. - Scroll mode records the page and, if you wish, your voice. The webcam is not offered in this mode. - The video is sent while recording and a copy stays on the computer until it is received. If the browser crashes, only the last seconds are lost, unless the disk was full: the pieces then held in memory are lost too. - If the connection stays down for a very long time, local space can fill up. Recording then pauses and the extension says so: in meetings it resumes by itself when the network is back; in scroll mode, click Resume. - A take refused by the server (plan, frozen workspace) waits on the computer for 30 days, then is removed and the extension tells you. - A video is limited to 4.8 GiB, about 2 h 50 at 4 Mb/s. Recording then stops cleanly. - The meeting bubble is part of the page: during a tab capture, it appears in the video. - In meetings, your microphone is recorded as soon as you have allowed it. YOUR DATA AND YOUR PRIVACY Nothing is recorded without action from you. Recording only starts after your click, and only on the tab or screen you chose. What is sent to Literec: the videos you record, with their picture and sound. They can therefore contain whatever is visible on the page or in the meeting. Check that no sensitive information is on display before you start a take. The microphone is optional in scroll mode. It is only used to add your voice to the video. Why the extension asks for these permissions: - Active tab access: scroll and capture only the tab you clicked on. - Tab and screen capture: record what you chose to film. - Access to Google Meet and Zoom: show the recording bubble during meetings. - Access to Literec: link the extension to your account and upload your videos. - Tabs and scripts: run the scrolling, and keep the take if the tab closes. - Storage: keep your settings and your connection to Literec. Privacy policy: https://literec.video/en/privacy COMMON ISSUES "Keep Literec open and signed in in a tab" Open https://literec.video, sign in, then try again. If your account uses two-factor authentication, enter your code too. "Chrome did not allow the capture" Click the Literec icon again from the page you want to record. Chrome requires this click every time, for your security. "This tab is already being captured" Stop the other recording or screen share in progress, then try again. "Microphone blocked" The video will be recorded without your voice. To turn the microphone back on, allow it in the extension's settings in Chrome. Other participants' voices are missing from a meeting When sharing, check that the option to share tab or system audio is ticked. The video does not appear right away Processing takes a little time after the upload. Refresh your library after a few moments. NEED HELP?
