Lite Modify Headers — rewrite HTTP request and response headers from one simple table. Lite Modify Headers lets you change the HTTP headers your browser sends and receives, using a single table of rules. Fill in a row, flip the switch, and it takes effect immediately. There is no account to create, no server to talk to, and no setup step. What it is for Web developers, QA engineers, and API integrators regularly need to send or alter a header that a browser will not let them change by hand: - Send a fixed Authorization token to a staging API so you can test it straight from the browser, without a REST client. - Relax a CORS response header such as Access-Control-Allow-Origin while developing a front end against an API that does not yet allow your local origin. - Override User-Agent, Referer, or a custom X- header to reproduce a bug reported on a different client or routing path. - Remove a header entirely — for example strip Referer so it is not leaked to third parties. - Block requests to a specific host to check how your page behaves when a tracker or third-party script fails to load. Without an extension, each of these means rebuilding a request outside the browser, where cookies, session state, and page context are gone. Lite Modify Headers applies the change to real browsing in the real tab. Why install this one - One table is the whole app. Every rule is a single row with six short fields — on/off, request or response, action, header name, value, URL filter. There are no wizards, no nested menus, and no configuration files. - No save button. Each change is stored and applied the moment you type it, so what is on screen is what the browser is doing. - One switch pauses everything. Flip Running / Paused and all rules stop or resume at once. They stay written down while paused, so nothing is lost between sessions. - You can always tell it is working. The toolbar icon turns green while rules are live, and the status bar shows how many rules are actually registered with the browser. - It scales when you need more. Three actions (Set, Delete, Block), substring or regular-expression URL filters, explicit top-to-bottom priority you control with arrows, and groups that bundle a whole set of headers under one shared name and URL filter so you can switch them on or off together. - Light and dark themes, following your system setting or pinned manually. Privacy Your rules are stored in the browser's local extension storage and never leave the device. The extension collects no personal information, contains no analytics or telemetry, and makes no network requests of its own. Why the permissions are broad Chrome's declarativeNetRequest API can only modify headers for URLs the extension has host access to. Because you decide which sites your rules apply to — and that may be any site — the extension requests access to all URLs. It never reads or transmits page content; the host access is used solely to register your rules table with the browser. Scope Built on Manifest V3 and declarativeNetRequest, for Chromium browsers (Chrome and Edge). Two deliberate limits worth knowing before you install: individual cookies inside a Cookie or Set-Cookie header cannot be edited — only the whole header can be set or removed — and there is no import/export.
