Overview

Checks an accommodation listing for contradictions on the page itself, and shows the evidence.

ListingProof reads an accommodation listing you already have open and checks whether the page agrees with itself. It shows you what it compared and the values behind every finding, so you can judge for yourself rather than trust a score. WHAT IT CHECKS • The web address against the displayed name. On sites where a listing's address is built from its name when it is created, that address survives later renames. When the address describes one property and the page displays another, ListingProof shows you both. • The stated location against the landmarks the page itself names. If a page says a museum is 250 metres away, the coordinates it publishes should agree. ListingProof looks the landmarks up and reports the distances. • The navigation trail against the coordinates. If the page files a property under one city while publishing coordinates far from it, that gap is shown with both values. • Booking terms worth reading twice: "free parking" that turns out to be public street parking the property cannot reserve, rates that are all non-refundable, and requests to prepay in full by bank transfer. These are stated plainly and never counted as evidence of anything wrong. • What guests wrote. ListingProof reads the guest reviews the page itself publishes, and points at low scores and at reviews mentioning trouble, always with the guest's own words and the review's age beside them. It also tells you how few reviews the page showed and that the platform chose which ones — because a handful of selected reviews is a shop window, not a sample. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • It does not accuse anyone of fraud. It reports contradictions, and a contradiction can have an innocent explanation. A red result means "this page disagrees with itself, verify before booking", never "this is a scam". • It cannot detect a listing that is dishonest but internally consistent. • A green result means "no contradictions found", not "guaranteed genuine". • It does not rate quality, cleanliness or value, does not compare prices, and shows no adverts or affiliate links. • It does not change listing pages, does not add anything to them, and never makes, alters or cancels a booking. PRIVACY There is no ListingProof server. Nothing is uploaded, nothing is sold, there are no analytics and no accounts. It keeps no record of the listings you look at — a tool you install because you distrust a listing should not become a log of every listing you distrusted. It stores your settings and a cache of place-name coordinates, and nothing else. It does not ask for permission to read your browsing history. It shows the verdict for the tab you are looking at by following that tab's number, and it cannot see the addresses of your other tabs. MAP SEARCH (OPTIONAL) The extension includes a map page where you can draw a circle, set dates and guests, and search Booking.com inside it in your own browser session. Each search fetches one page of results — the same page you would see if you ran that search yourself — and shows it as a list with the properties pinned on the map. You can check any result without opening it. Nothing runs in the background; every request follows a button you pressed. OPTIONAL LOCAL AI If you install Ollama on your own computer, ListingProof can additionally have a local model read the description and reviews for contradictions. It is off unless Ollama is running, nothing leaves your machine, and the model is never allowed to decide a verdict — it can only point at text for the deterministic checks to confirm. LANGUAGES Fifteen languages, including the findings themselves and not just the buttons. The evidence stays in its original form: a listing's own words, addresses and prices are shown exactly as the page wrote them, because evidence is quoted, not rewritten. Translations are machine-made and English is the original. INDEPENDENCE ListingProof is an independent tool, not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by or connected to Booking.com, Airbnb or any other accommodation platform. All trademarks belong to their respective owners; their names are used only to say which sites the extension can read.
