Listen brings natural, human-sounding text-to-speech to everything you read online — powered by OpenAI's latest voice AI. WHAT IT DOES - Highlight any text on a page, or let Listen find the article automatically, and press Play. It reads it aloud with synchronized word-by-word highlighting so you always know exactly where you are. - Pause, resume, skip forward/back 10 seconds, and change speed on the fly — even if you switch tabs or close the page. Audio keeps playing in the background. VOICE VARIETY - Choose from 11 natural voices (Alloy, Ash, Ballad, Coral, Echo, Fable, Nova, Onyx, Sage, Shimmer, Verse). - Pick a tone to match what you're reading: Energetic for news briefings, Calm for research and medical content, Warm for casual reads, Serious for technical docs, or Neutral for default delivery. FORMAT FLEXIBILITY - PDFs — open a local PDF and listen to it without copying a word. - ePubs — open any ePub ebook and have it read to you chapter by chapter. - Web links — paste any URL and Listen fetches and reads the article in the background, no tab required. - Photos of books — snap a photo of a physical page and Listen uses AI vision to transcribe and read it aloud. YOUR PRIVACY - Your API key is stored only in your browser's extension storage and goes directly to api.openai.com — never to any third-party server. - PDF and ePub files are processed entirely on your device; no file content leaves your machine. - Photos are sent to OpenAI for transcription (same API you're already using for TTS). REQUIREMENTS You need a free OpenAI account and an API key. Paste it in the extension popup once and you're set. Typical usage costs a few cents per hour of audio.
