LipiFix – Old Indian Fonts to Unicode

Converts text typed in old, non-Unicode Indian fonts into proper Unicode text that you can copy, search and share.

Many older Indian documents and websites were typed in legacy fonts that are not Unicode. Without the matching font installed, the text appears as random English letters and symbols, and even when it displays correctly it cannot be copied, searched or shared properly. LipiFix converts that text into standard Unicode, so it reads correctly everywhere. How to use it: • Fix a whole page: click the LipiFix button. It checks the font used by each paragraph and converts the old-font text automatically, leaving English and Unicode text unchanged. • Convert a selection: select the garbled text, right-click and choose LipiFix. • Paste box: paste text copied from an old Word or PageMaker file into the popup and copy the Unicode result. It supports common legacy fonts for Hindi and nine other major Indian languages. If a page does not name its font, you can choose the language and font yourself in the popup. Privacy: all conversion happens inside your browser. Nothing is uploaded, collected or tracked. LipiFix only runs on a page when you click it, and every change can be undone. Keyboard shortcut: Alt+Shift+U fixes the current page. LipiFix is open source under the GPL-3.0 licence.
