Overview

See where a link really goes before you click. LinkGuard checks links as you hover and asks before you open a likely scam.

See where a link really goes before you click. LinkGuard checks a link while you're still deciding. Rest your pointer on it and a small tag shows where it really goes, with a clear answer such as Safe, Check first or Scam. Click a likely scam and LinkGuard asks before it opens. HOW IT CHECKS - Short links and redirects are followed on LinkGuard's server, up to four hops, to where they land - The link, every redirect and the landing page are looked up in three public phishing and malware lists: OpenPhish, PhishTank and URLhaus - Links no list knows yet are judged by Jev, TypeSafe AI's decision model. LinkGuard's own safety rules can make that answer more careful, never less - Most checks finish in under a second WHAT YOU SEE - Safe: a small green tag that fades on its own - Check first: a grey tag for pages where anyone can publish, sites that use a brand's name without being its site, and sites registered in the last 30 days - Scam: a red tag, and if you click the link, a question first: stay on the page, or open it anyway - Right-click any link and choose "Check this link with LinkGuard" - Pause checks on any site, or paste a link to check it, from the toolbar button PRIVATE BY DESIGN - Free, no account - Sends only the link you hover, focus or click, that link's text and the page title (with email addresses and long numbers removed) - Never reads the rest of the page, form fields, passwords or cookies - The lists are LinkGuard's own copy, so your links never go to the list providers HONEST LIMITS No tool catches everything. When LinkGuard can't be sure, it says Check first instead of Safe. Keep your browser's own protection switched on too.
