Overview

Auto-detect job postings and track applications in LinkedOut

LinkedOut — Job Application Tracker Stop losing track of where you applied. LinkedOut is a Chrome extension that automatically detects job postings, tracks your applications, and autofills repetitive form fields — so you can focus on landing the job, not managing spreadsheets. — THE PROBLEM Job searching is chaotic. You apply on LinkedIn, then Greenhouse, then a company career page, then Workday. Within a week, you can't remember which roles you applied to, when you applied, or whether you heard back. You end up re-applying to the same company, missing follow-up windows, or losing track of promising leads entirely. Spreadsheets help, but manually copying company names, role titles, and URLs after every application is tedious — and the moment you skip one, your tracking falls apart. And then there's the forms. Every application asks for the same information: your name, email, phone number, work authorization, LinkedIn URL. You type the same answers dozens of times a week. LinkedOut fixes all of this. — WHAT IT DOES LinkedOut is a lightweight Chrome extension that lives in your browser while you job hunt. It does three things: Detects job postings automatically Tracks every application you submit Autofills common form fields from your saved profile Here's how each piece works: — AUTO-DETECTION ON 20+ PLATFORMS LinkedOut automatically recognizes when you're on a job posting page. It works across all major applicant tracking systems and job boards. It also detects job pages on company career sites that don't use a well-known ATS. LinkedOut uses a smart scoring system that analyzes URL patterns, page content, form fields, and structured data to determine whether you're looking at a job posting — even on sites it has never seen before. When it detects a job posting, the LinkedOut panel appears automatically in the corner of your screen with the company name, role title, location, and source already filled in. No manual entry needed. — ONE-CLICK APPLICATION TRACKING Once you've applied, click "Track Application" in the panel. LinkedOut saves: • Company name • Role title • Location • Date applied • Source (LinkedIn, Indeed, Company Site, etc.) • Job posting URL • Application status (Wishlist → Applied → Screening → Interviewing → Offer) • Whether you had a referral • Notes Everything syncs to your LinkedOut dashboard — a full web app where you can see your entire job search pipeline at a glance. The dashboard shows: • A Kanban-style pipeline view with columns for each status • Stats: total applications, active applications, response rate, interview rate, offers • Search and filtering by company or role • Application history and notes Your data is stored securely and syncs across devices, so you can track applications from your laptop at home and your computer at work. — AUTO-FILL FROM YOUR PROFILE LinkedOut includes a Quick Apply feature. Save your common application answers once: • Personal info: name, email, phone, address • Work details: authorization status, visa sponsorship, salary expectations, years of experience, start date • Education: degree, school, major, graduation year, GPA • Links: LinkedIn, GitHub, portfolio, personal website • EEO information: gender, race/ethnicity, veteran status, disability status Then on any job application form, click the "Auto Fill" button in the LinkedOut panel. It intelligently matches your saved answers to the form fields on the page — even when different companies use different labels for the same information. "Phone Number", "Mobile", "Cell Phone", and "Contact Number" all map to your saved phone number. Auto Fill works with standard HTML forms as well as React, Angular, and Vue-based forms used by modern ATS platforms. Fields that get filled show a brief green highlight so you can see exactly what was populated. File upload fields (like resume uploads) are highlighted in yellow with a reminder to upload manually, since browsers don't allow programmatic file selection for security reasons. — FORM FIELD SCANNING The Details tab in the LinkedOut panel lets you scan any application form to capture the values you've entered. After filling out a form, click "Scan Page" and LinkedOut reads every visible form field — input boxes, dropdowns, text areas — and displays them in a clean list. This is useful for: • Reviewing what you entered before submitting • Saving field values as drafts that persist even if you navigate away • Understanding what a particular application is asking for at a glance The scanner is smart about filtering out junk: it ignores hidden tracking fields, zero-size elements, and inputs with labels shorter than 3 characters, so you only see the fields that matter. — TODAY'S PROGRESS The Today tab gives you a quick summary of applications you've tracked today. It's a simple motivational view — see how productive your job search day has been without opening the full dashboard. — PRIVACY-FIRST DESIGN LinkedOut stores extension data in Chrome's secure storage API, not in the host page's localStorage. This means: • Websites you visit cannot read your LinkedOut data • Your saved profile answers are isolated from page scripts • Your application history is private to the extension Your data syncs to a backend server that you control. LinkedOut is designed for self-hosted deployments — your application data lives in your own MongoDB database, not on a shared third-party server. — WORKS ON COMPANY CAREER PAGES Many companies host their job postings on their own websites rather than on job boards. LinkedOut handles this through: • URL pattern matching: pages with /careers/, /jobs/, /apply/, /hiring/, /positions/, or /openings/ in the URL are automatically checked • Content analysis: the extension looks for job-related headings (Job Description, Qualifications, Responsibilities), application form fields (resume uploads, cover letter boxes, work authorization questions), and structured JobPosting data • ATS iframe detection: when a company embeds a Greenhouse, Lever, or Workday form inside their career page via an iframe, LinkedOut detects it and adjusts its behavior accordingly If the panel doesn't appear automatically on a particular page, click the LinkedOut icon in your browser toolbar and hit "Show Panel" to manually activate it on any page. — MANUAL PANEL ACTIVATION Some company career pages use unusual URL structures or heavily customized layouts that don't trigger automatic detection. For these cases, the "Show Panel" button in the popup injects the LinkedOut scripts into the current page on demand. This means LinkedOut can work on literally any webpage — even pages that weren't in its detection rules. — WHY INSTALL LINKEDOUT? If you're actively job searching, LinkedOut saves you hours every week: • No more spreadsheets — tracking happens where you already are: in your browser, on the job page • No more retyping — save your info once, autofill everywhere • No more forgetting — every application is logged with one click • No more guessing — see your response rate, interview rate, and pipeline at a glance LinkedOut was built by a job seeker, for job seekers. It's fast, lightweight, and gets out of your way when you don't need it. Install LinkedOut and take control of your job search.
