Overview
Hold Alt/Option and drag over links to open them in new background tabs in the same window. Duplicate destinations open once.
Draw a box. Open the links. Link Lasso opens a group of web links with one mouse drag. Hold Alt on Windows or Linux, or Option on Mac, then drag a rectangle over the links you want. Release the mouse to open each distinct destination in a new background tab in the same browser window. Your original tab stays active. No repeated middle-clicking and no separate window. HOW TO USE IT 1. Hold Alt/Option and press the left mouse button. 2. Drag over links. A cyan rectangle, link outlines and a live counter show what will open. 3. Release to open the selected links. Press Escape to cancel. Prefer a key-free selection? Pin Link Lasso in Chrome's Extensions menu, click its icon, then drag. The toolbar mode ends after one selection. WHAT IT DOES • Opens each unique selected destination once, in document order. • Keeps the new tabs in the source browser window and your current tab active. • Supports real text links, linked images and links in open shadow roots. • Works on scrolled pages and lets you scroll by dragging near a window edge. • Leaves ordinary text selection and normal clicks working outside selection mode. WHAT IT SKIPS Hidden or covered links, email and telephone links, JavaScript actions, explicit download links and buttons without a real web URL. The selected link's visible area must intersect the rectangle. LOCAL PROCESSING The extension processes link destinations, link geometry and visibility, selection gestures and source-tab/window metadata locally to provide this feature. Nothing is sent to Glass Dagger Labs or a developer service. There are no accounts, ads, analytics, browsing logs, saved selections, clipboard access or remote executable code. Opening a selected destination contacts that website normally. WHY IT NEEDS WEBSITE ACCESS The selector must respond to your drag on the websites where you use it. Packaged content scripts run on HTTP and HTTPS pages and permitted frames. They examine links during selection; they do not maintain a browsing log or read text-field values. You can limit site access in chrome://extensions. LIMITS Chrome settings, the Chrome Web Store, built-in PDF viewers and other protected pages do not allow this tool. For cross-origin embedded frames, start a separate drag inside the frame. Closed shadow roots are inaccessible. Transformed frames should also be selected from within. Edge scrolling includes links currently visible inside the rectangle when you release, not links already scrolled out of view. Operating-system Alt-drag shortcuts can interfere; use the toolbar mode instead. Large selections open all selected destinations: check the live count before releasing. Some websites may initiate a download when opened. Link Lasso does not remove tracking parameters or block tracking on destination websites. Reload existing web tabs after installation. Right-click the extension icon and choose Options for help and the packaged privacy policy. Publisher: Glass Dagger Labs Support: help@markoneill.org
