LinguaLens
Overview
Click any word in YouTube subtitles for an instant contextual explanation.
LinguaLens helps you learn languages while watching videos with subtitles on YouTube. Click any word in the subtitles and get an instant, contextual explanation in simple English — not just a dictionary translation. LinguaLens understands idioms, slang, and cultural references that word-for-word translation tools miss. HOW IT WORKS - Works on any YouTube video with subtitles/captions enabled - Click any word in the subtitle track - Get a short, plain-English explanation based on the actual context of the sentence - Works for any language — automatically detected from the subtitles BRING YOUR OWN API KEY LinguaLens works with any major AI provider and lets you bring your own API key. You choose the provider and model, control your own usage and costs, and can even connect a locally-run model if you prefer to keep everything on your own machine. LinguaLens has no servers and never sees your key or your data. WHY CONTEXTUAL, NOT JUST TRANSLATED Standard translation gives you the dictionary meaning of a word. LinguaLens reads the full sentence and explains what the word actually means in that moment — including idioms and expressions that don't translate literally. PRIVACY All settings, including your API key, are stored locally in your browser. Subtitle text and clicked words are sent directly from your browser to the AI provider you configure. LinguaLens does not operate any servers and collects no data. Built for language learners who are tired of pausing every few seconds to look something up.
