LinguaLayer turns ordinary web reading into a small, personalized language-learning layer. Choose Chinese-to-English or English-to-Chinese, your level, reading tracks, and intensity. LinguaLayer then replaces a limited number of suitable expressions inside the page. Click an expression to hear it, see its meaning and original text, or mark it as known. The extension works without an account. Your learning profile and vocabulary progress stay in Chrome storage on this device. If you choose to sign in, only your learning profile and expression progress sync to your LinguaLayer account so they can be restored in another signed-in Chrome profile. Page text, enabled sites, and full page URLs are never included in cloud sync. Key capabilities: - Separate Chinese-to-English and English-to-Chinese learning directions. - Simplified or traditional Chinese output with optional pinyin. - Level and topic filters for general, technology, business, news, exam, academic, and travel reading. - Per-site activation by default, with an explicit all-sites option. - Local pronunciation, original-text restore, and spaced vocabulary progress. - Optional account sync for learning settings and expression progress. - No advertising, sale of data, or remote code. Save an article when you want to return to it later. LinguaLayer stores its title, sanitized site path, and short contexts for up to 20 expressions in Chrome storage. Saved articles never sync and exclude URL query parameters and fragments.
