Read and search your ChatGPT chats in one fast tab, all of them and all of each one, even the messages ChatGPT hasn't loaded. ChatGPT loads long chats a piece at a time, so its scrollbar and Ctrl+F only cover what's on screen. LightSession gives you the whole chat, your prompts as an index on the side, and one search box for every chat you've saved. Made for people who live in long chats, like researchers, writers and developers. AN INDEX OF YOUR PROMPTS • Every prompt of the open chat, numbered, in a column next to the conversation. Click one to jump to it. ONE TAB FOR YOUR CHATS • One button on ChatGPT, "Read & search", opens LightSession on the chat you're in. • Your chats, the prompts of the open chat and the conversation sit side by side in one tab. • Messages are formatted, with headings, tables, code blocks and math. Older messages fill in while you read. • Export a chat as Markdown, a web page, a PDF (through print) or JSON. • It runs in its own tab, so ChatGPT stays fast and nothing covers it while you type. FIND IN THIS CHAT • Search every message of the open chat, including messages ChatGPT hasn't loaded, and step through every match. • Narrow it to what you wrote or what ChatGPT wrote. • Your prompts on the side show where the matches are. Jump to any of them. SEARCH ALL CHATS • One search box covers every chat LightSession has saved. Results are grouped by chat, newest first. • Click a result to open that chat at that message. • Save all chats saves the chats in your ChatGPT list (not yet Projects or archived chats) to this computer, slowly and only when you ask. It runs in the background. • Export all your chats to a folder as Markdown, web pages or JSON, with front matter for Obsidian or any notes app. • Back up every chat to one file and restore it later, on this or another computer. • Import the data export ChatGPT emails you, to fill your library in minutes without a single request to ChatGPT. PRIVATE BY DESIGN • Your conversations are indexed on your device, in the extension's local storage. • Nothing is sent to the developer or to anyone else. There are no accounts and no analytics. • Temporary chats are never saved. • Remove any chat from LightSession, or clear everything, at any time. Uninstalling removes everything. LOOKING FOR TRIMMING? LightSession used to trim long chats to keep ChatGPT fast. ChatGPT now loads them in pages by itself, so trimming is gone and reading and search took its place. HOW TO USE IT Open a ChatGPT conversation and click the book button at the top right. Or click the toolbar icon to open the chat you're on, or to see all your chats.
