RootPass is a 100% local, offline password manager. This extension connects your browser to the RootPass desktop app to fill your credentials on the right page, in the right field, in one click. How it works: • The extension talks to the RootPass app installed on your computer over a local connection (127.0.0.1). Nothing goes over the internet. • The encryption key and your vault never leave the app. The extension only receives the credential you choose, when you ask for it. • On a login page, the extension offers your accounts for that site and fills username + password (and 2FA code if configured). Security: • One-time code pairing between the app and the extension. • No data collected, no tracking, no ads. • If your vault is locked, the extension receives nothing. Requirement: the RootPass desktop app must be installed and unlocked.
