Compares and diffs selected text using AboutCode's ScanCode LicenseDB license list and SPDX License List.

LicenseDB Diff helps you identify an unknown license or exception by comparing selected text against two authoritative sources: AboutCode's ScanCode LicenseDB and the SPDX License List. Select any block of license text on a web page, click the extension icon, and get a ranked list of the closest matches with a full word-level diff of what changed. Features: - Compares against ScanCode LicenseDB and SPDX, together or individually - Choose whether to match licenses, exceptions, or both - Ranked results with a detailed similarity breakdown: overall score, containment, cosine, token Levenshtein, - Word-level diffs that highlight exactly which words appear only in your selection and which appear only in the reference license - Flags exact template matches, where the text matches the license template ignoring variable fields - Jump between changes with next/previous navigation, or collapse long unchanged passages to focus only on differences - Copy the diff or the full reference license text to the clipboard in one click - Direct links to the license source, plus one-click copying of the SPDX identifier - Group results by source or rank them together - Light and dark themes - Configurable result count and minimum match threshold - The license database is cached locally and can be refreshed or rebuilt on demand from the options page.
