The Vault is a privacy-first password manager that keeps your credentials safe without trusting third-party infrastructure. Unlike cloud-based password managers, The Vault keeps your data off external servers. Instead, your information remains encrypted on your device and, if you choose, on file in your cloud storage provider. The browser extension connects directly to The Vault desktop app on your machine, ensuring your passwords never go to any external server. HOW IT WORKS The extension communicates with the Vault desktop app through a secure local connection (native messaging). When you visit a login page, it offers to autofill your saved credentials. If you log in to a new site, it offers to save your credentials to your vault. To set up sync, choose your preferred provider and sign in through the app. Only encrypted data is uploaded; your cloud provider cannot access the contents.
