PDFAnvil opens and edits PDF files right in your browser. Processing happens on your own computer - your documents are never uploaded to a server, and you don't need an account to start working. WHY PDFAnvil Most free PDF tools run in the cloud: you upload a contract or an invoice to somebody else's server and trust it gets deleted. PDFAnvil works the other way round. The file stays on your device, so there is nothing to trust. Editing works without an internet connection. WHAT YOU CAN DO Annotate and mark up - Highlight, underline and strike through text - Sticky notes and typewriter text - Freehand drawing, rectangles and arrows Sign - Draw, type or upload a signature and place it anywhere in the document Organise pages - Merge several PDFs into one - Split by page ranges - Rotate, delete, add and reorder pages - Compress to reduce file size - Images to PDF, PDF to images, text/Markdown/EPUB export - Print Recognise text (OCR) - Make scanned documents searchable (English and Polish language data are built into the extension) Redact - Permanently remove sensitive content, not just cover it - Check redaction before sharing Comfort - Dark mode - Keyboard shortcuts - Interface in 11 languages - Recent documents in the toolbar popup - Draft recovery after an accidental tab close PRIVACY - Your PDF files are processed locally and never sent to us - No account needed for the free version - Optional crash reports and usage statistics are OFF until you opt in inside the app - Account/licence data is used only if you activate a paid licence (see Privacy Policy) FREE AND PAID The free version includes viewing, annotating, signing, merging, splitting and more, with daily limits on some actions (for example OCR pages, exports and batch files), and files you export carry a small "Created with PDFAnvil" footer. Optional PRO or Lifetime licences remove the limits and the footer and unlock text editing, batch processing and advanced redaction. Licences are bought on pdfanvil.app and activated in the extension; this is the only time the extension talks to our server (api.pdfanvil.app). HOW IT WORKS WITH CHROME'S PDF VIEWER When you open a PDF link (a URL ending in .pdf) PDFAnvil can show the document in its editor. To edit a PDF saved on your computer, enable "Allow access to file URLs" for PDFAnvil in chrome://extensions, or open the file from the toolbar popup ("Open PDF").
