TruTube Guardian

This extension allows a parent to view and assess the safety of any link outside TruTube before their child is taken to it.

STAY IN CONTROL OF YOUR CHILD'S VIEWING, EVEN AS THEY LEAVE TRUTUBE. Whilst TruTube Kids plays the videos you have approved for your child, the embedded player may suggest videos and links that may not meet the unique needs of your child. Before being taken to a link that may potentially trigger some medical conditions or expose them to content you may not approve of, this extension catches the destination links and allows you to preview and assess their suitability before your child is taken to them. WHAT IT DOES • Any link your child taps in the video player, or any website they try to open from TruTube, is caught by TruTube Guardian. You see the destination, behind your Guardian Control PIN, and assess it before your child goes there. • YouTube itself is covered everywhere in this browser, not only from TruTube: a bookmark or a typed address goes to TruTube first too. • Your child is first asked to hand the device to a grown-up. • Then you decide: let it open, or keep your child in TruTube. A YouTube video declared made for kids can also play inside TruTube. • Switching it off from its settings needs your PIN. WHAT YOU NEED • A TruTube Kids account (trutube.kids) with your child signed in on this browser. • Chrome, Microsoft Edge or Brave. Install it in the browser profile your child uses. If no child is signed in to TruTube in this browser, websites open as normal and TruTube Guardian notes them in its log, so it does not get in the way of grown-ups using the same profile. WHAT IT DOES NOT COVER Use your browser's own parental controls (Google Family Link for Chrome, Microsoft Family Safety for Edge) for these: • private / incognito windows, other browsers, and other browser profiles; • websites your child goes to without starting from TruTube (other than YouTube); • removing the extension from the browser's extensions page. WHAT IT DOES NOT DO • It does not change any website or run anything on any website's pages. • It does not touch the video player in TruTube. • It does not collect or sell anything.
