Quick Files for Gmail
Overview
All of a thread's files in one place, without opening the email: right-click to see who sent what and when. Preview & download.
The file is somewhere in a long Gmail conversation. The contract draft, the signed page, the updated quote. To find it, you open one message after another and scroll. Quick Files for Gmail shows every attachment in a thread in one clear view, so you can find the right file without digging through emails. WHAT YOU GET • Right-click a conversation in your inbox and choose "Thread files". You see its attachments in the order they were sent, grouped by sender. • The date and time appear beside each sender's name, so you can tell which version came last. • Hover over a PDF or an image to preview its first page without opening the email. • Download a single file with one click. • Tick several files and click "Download selected", or use "Download all". • Downloaded files get tidy names (YYYY-MM-DD_sender_filename) and go straight into Chrome's download folder. • Inside an open conversation, the "Thread files" button opens the same list in a side panel. • Works in English and Hebrew and follows your Gmail language, including right-to-left layout. HOW TO START 1. Add Quick Files to Chrome. 2. Open or reload Gmail (mail.google.com). 3. Right-click any conversation that has attachments and choose "Thread files" (or open it and click the "Thread files" button). Quick Files works on one thread at a time. It doesn't search your whole mailbox. PRIVACY Quick Files runs locally in your browser. • No servers of ours, no analytics, no sign-in, and no Gmail API or OAuth access. • When you ask for a conversation's files, the extension reads it from Gmail using the session you're already signed in to. • PDF previews are rendered with pdf.js, which is bundled inside the extension. • The file list is kept in the tab's memory for a few minutes and is cleared when Gmail is closed or reloaded. Full privacy policy: https://www.toolsil.com/gmail-files-privacy WHY EACH PERMISSION • Downloads: to save files to your computer with tidy names. • Context menus: to add "Thread files" to the right-click menu. • Access to mail.google.com: to read the list of files in the conversation you choose. • Access to mail-attachment.googleusercontent.com: Gmail serves attachment files from this address. It's needed for previews and downloads. Quick Files doesn't ask for permission to send, delete or change your email. FAQ Does it search my whole inbox? No. It shows the files of one conversation at a time: the one you right-click or the one you have open. Are my emails or files uploaded anywhere? No. Everything happens in your browser, and nothing is sent to us or to anyone else. Do I need to create an account or sign in with Google? No. It uses the Gmail tab you're already signed in to. Which files can I preview? PDFs and images. Other file types can be downloaded. Does it work on my phone? No. Chrome extensions run in Chrome on desktop. Is it free? Yes. If you work with long email threads full of documents, give Quick Files a try. The next time you need "that one version", it's one right-click away.
