Lexreel turns the English videos you watch into lessons. Bilingual subtitles on YouTube, Bilibili, TED, Vimeo and Wall Street Journal (WSJ) video pages. Chrome's built-in translator is the default. Words fill progressively as the video plays. When captions are unavailable, one click can start on-device AI subtitles using Chrome's local speech recognition. Click any word for its phonetics, Chinese meaning and stressed syllable (au·ˈton·o·mous), plus roots and related words. Save words and whole lines with their source and time, then jump back to the video. Review at fixed 1, 3, 7, 15 and 30-day intervals with listen-and-choose, spelling by ear, three self-ratings, skip, previous and next. Practice: word to meaning, heard word to meaning, catch the words in a sentence, sentence gist. Choose a watched video to practice its saved words. Line-by-line listening: auto-pause, loop a line or a range, shortcuts, searchable transcript. The study page has an extension-icon menu, progressive word highlighting, cue marks on the progress bar and a time display. Export subtitles as PDF, SRT or VTT. Bilingual web pages on sites you allow, and translation of any text you select. On-device AI subtitle audio and recognized words stay on your computer. No analytics. If you choose and configure a third-party translation service, text to translate goes to that provider. An AI conversation coach and live AI subtitles are coming soon.
