Overview

Language reading assistant: translate, explain, and pronounce selected text with Wikipedia context

Lexora is an AI-assisted multilingual reading layer for the browser. It helps users understand multilingual web content directly on the page through contextual selected-text translation, explanation, pronunciation, and privacy-aware AI routing. Instead of translating an entire page by default, Lexora focuses on precise reading moments. Select a word, phrase, sentence, or paragraph, then use Lexora to understand meaning, context, pronunciation, and related reading support without leaving the page. Current capabilities include: * Contextual selected-text translation * Explanation and definition support adapted to reading context * Pronunciation and IPA support where available * Wikipedia/Wikidata-based reading context * Japanese reading support * YouTube subtitle reading surface * Optional cloud AI provider configuration * Optional custom OpenAI-compatible endpoint configuration * Optional local AI runtime support, such as Ollama * Local notebook/study workflow for saved reading items Lexora is designed for readers, students, language learners, translators, and multilingual web users who need focused comprehension support while preserving the reading flow. Privacy posture: Lexora acts on user-selected text and user-initiated reading actions. Depending on user settings, selected text may be processed by translation providers, cloud AI providers, user-configured OpenAI-compatible endpoints, local AI runtimes, or public knowledge sources such as Wikipedia/Wikidata. Lexora does not sell user data. Users can review provider configuration and privacy-related settings in the extension options page.
