Folio — Private book library

Folio is a private e-book reader and library that runs entirely in your browser. Import your EPUB books and PDF documents and read them in a calm, distraction-free reading view. No account, no advertising and no fees. Private by design Folio has no servers. Your books, bookmarks, highlights and reading positions are stored only on your computer, in the browser's built-in database, and are never uploaded. • Files are opened and displayed locally. PDF and DjVu pages are decoded by components packaged inside the extension. • Each chapter is shown in a sandboxed frame where scripts cannot run. Images, fonts and trackers that a book tries to load from the web are blocked, so opening a book contacts no one. • No analytics, no telemetry and no tracking. • Folio requests one permission, unlimited storage, so that a large library is not removed by the browser to free space. • Once installed, Folio works without an internet connection. Free, with no account Folio requires no registration, shows no advertisements and has no subscription, premium tier or trial period. Comfortable reading • Turn pages horizontally like a printed book, or read in a continuous vertical scroll. • Use the publisher's typography or one of three reading typefaces; adjust text size, line spacing and margins. • Choose paper, sepia or night pages. • Read in fullscreen with your contents, bookmarks and notes still within reach. • Folio remembers your place by the words on the page, so it returns you to the same passage after you change the text size or resize the window. Bookmarks, highlights and backup • Highlight passages and bookmark pages; each note stays attached to the words it belongs to. • Search within the chapter or page you are reading. • Export your notes, or download a complete backup of your library and restore it later. Supported formats • EPUB books, including tables of contents, footnotes, right-to-left text and the publisher's styling. • DRM-free MOBI books. • PDF and DjVu documents shown as their original pages, with zoom and selectable text. • Markdown files. • Print an EPUB chapter or a whole book with Chrome's "Save as PDF", or download the original of any PDF. Please note Folio does not open DRM-protected books or password-protected PDFs. Your library is stored only in this browser, so clearing your browsing data or uninstalling Folio removes it. Keep your original files and use Storage & backup to save a copy.
