Overview

Save Canvas files and pages plus Panopto or Mediasite lecture transcripts to a folder for offline study. Nothing is uploaded.

Lecture Capture saves your Canvas courses and Panopto or Mediasite lecture transcripts to a folder on your computer, as plain files you can open offline, search, and point your own AI at. It is free. There is no account to create, no server, and no tracking. Nothing leaves your computer: files go straight from your school's Canvas, Panopto and Mediasite sites into the folder you choose. What it saves - Canvas files, including lecture PDFs and slides, one folder per course - Canvas pages, saved as Markdown - Course announcements and a course outline - Panopto lecture transcripts, as .srt captions and clean .txt - Mediasite lecture transcripts, as .txt - A bundle.md per course that puts transcripts and pages in one file, ready for an AI to read How it works 1. Say whether your lectures are on Panopto or Mediasite, then allow access to your school's sites. 2. Choose a folder. Running it again later updates the same folder in place. 3. Pick courses. Lecture Capture lists the courses Canvas shows you. 4. Start the archive. Progress shows course by course, and anything that needs attention is listed with what to do about it. Your folder, your AI The archive is ordinary files in a folder you own. Open it in any AI tool that reads local files and ask questions about your lectures, or keep it as an offline copy for the end of term. Good to know - It uses the Canvas, Panopto or Mediasite sign-in you already have. You never type a password into it. - Videos are never downloaded. Transcripts, files and text only. - You can stop at any time and resume the archive later. - Works with Canvas sites on instructure.com, Panopto sites on panopto.com, and your school's own Mediasite site.
